Welcome to the Herd, Big Bad Chad
Mindy welcomed Big Bad Chad, a healthy 78-pound dun Highland bull calf, on August 23.

On August 23, Mindy welcomed a healthy dun bull calf to our herd. We named him Big Bad Chad, an homage to his sire, Big Chungus.
Mindy went into labor as we were heading to church, so I stayed behind to make sure all went well. After a couple of hours, she needed a little help and I assisted with the pull—my first time helping deliver a calf. It was a pretty amazing experience.
Chad arrived at a whopping 78 pounds, noticeably larger than Sugar. Even with the assistance, everything went smoothly. He was up and nursing within 90 minutes.

Big Bad Chad is staying close to Mindy as he settles into life on the farm. We’ll keep an eye on him as his size, color and heritage give him the potential to grow into quite the herd sire someday.
