Early Monday morning, Indy welcomed a beautiful silver Highland heifer to the herd. Meet Sugar.

Early Monday morning, we welcomed a new little heifer to Bloom & Brisket. Her name is Sugar, and she is a beautiful silver Highland calf.

Indy went into labor around midnight. The quiet hours that followed were full of anticipation, and then at 2:46 a.m., Indy delivered Sugar unassisted. I was there to catch her, which was an amazing experience — and a first for me.

Sugar was up and walking within an hour. Within 90 minutes of being born, she was nursing. Watching those first steps and seeing Indy settle into being a mama has been one of those moments that reminds us why we do this.

Indy and Sugar are both doing great. For now, we are keeping them in a stall so we can keep a close eye on them while they settle in together.

We are so thankful for a healthy delivery and a strong little calf. Welcome to the herd, Sugar — we are already very glad you are here.
